Bored and More Coffee thoughts

Loved the memories of being bored. In the school biz we are rarely bored, although the summer is relatively dull. It is particularly galling to an independent school head to be asked by a parent or other outsider, "so what are you going to do this summer?" Or even to have one of your teachers (who DON'T work during the summer) say, (and please imagine this in a chipper, nasal voice), "So, are you enjoying your summer?"
An independent school headmaster is the CEO of the business. Most of our job is not about schedules and curriculum; rather, it's fundraising, development, marketing, and so on. But comments like these are the cross I bear, even from family. (Suddenly I remember "Gladly". Remember that bear named Gladly? You know, from the old gospel song about the visually challenged ursine circus performer? "Gladly the Cross-eyed bear"?
Fuggedaboudit. That was forced beyond all recognition.
Now, as to coffee: Do you remember finding the non-Mormon ranger in Zion who gave us some coffee?

Ah, Gladly. An unfortunate story. They had to put him down in the end, you know.

Yep, he went mad and mauled that obese attendee at the Nativity — Round John Virgin.

Hey, Bill: Don't you wish you had summers off like Henry? Must be nice. /8~)>

now that you mention it...it must be nice to have the summer off.

i am reminded of my brother alan's remarks concerning his job as a rector. he spend was to much time on administration and not enough on salvation. he was a ceo and although trained as a priest he had to learn finance, construction, labor laws...etc...
he did well, but ultimately it drove him away from running a church and into his current position.
