DIVERSITY and OFF WE GO

as hank so apply put it...we are funny people. i've taken a moment over the weekend to think about how diverse we are. joe, hank and bill 3 totally different people, all influenced greatly by their upbringing, parents. joe, able to absorb details and recant stories both written and verbal, taking in all the sights, sounds and smells of each experience. me, army brat, baby of the family. everything structured, task oriented, the destination and not the journey being foremost.walking the the shadows of older brothers. hank, middle child, professional family, successful older brother and damaged younger sister. intellectual and challenging to others.

hank's canine analogy seems to fit perfectly. joe, using his memory trail/scent to liven up my race across the continent and hank jumping from mountain to mountain.

the trek continues: we left my grandparents house and headed north along the coast highway.
at some point, it was my turn in the back and i got car sick due to the curvature of the road and we had to bale out and go inland to find a road that was semi straight. i may have a made up memory here, but i seem to recall the welcome sign to Oregon was something like: have a nice visit and then go home. they must have thought they had enough permenate residents. i can not remember anything about oregon or washington except the tail joe reminded me of in spokane. i think joe should write that one up. not only does he remember well, but he does add a certain amount of color to the story that i could not do justice to.
