EMBARRASSING BUT TRUE

hank, you're great. i just had a great laugh, thanks i needed that.

1st: being superman (bullet proof) is a right of passage i believe and we dodgeD a whole boatload of trouble while spending the summer in the rolling tin can from hell. i personally do not remember the swimming pool of death, but obviously 2 of the 3 do, so therefore it is. i must have been 'distracted' during those days by a beautiful young lady. did we have swimsuits? i mean we were in the water a number of times during the summer but i don't remember ever 'changing into a swimsuit', just wearing blue jean cutoffs.

2nd: the 'driving around the gas station' story is true, funny and embarrassing all at the same time. when i told by brothers about the blog, both of them said....'oh i remember that trip, didn't hank and joe drive around in circles due to making a wrong turn and didn't want to wake you up?"......the legend and the lore are embedded into my entire family. i can laugh now and even hang my head in shame (your graphic,detailed re-canting of the episode brought tears to my eyes from laughing so hard. i can't wait to show my family). i truly was a jerk about the stupidest things and i would like to think i learned something...anything, but it was years before i could just let things go when it really did not matter....well, i'm not totally cured...i have my days.

the incident took place during the last week of our trip. we had spend a good deal of time in the french quarter and we were headed to deland, fl (near daytona) to see someone (need help here)
it was midnight and i volunteered to driver until the sun came up at which point i'd crash and you 2 would plow on. i made it to somewhere near pensacola, fl (just across the alabama state line) iwe stopped and i passed on the route to take and took the 'bed in the back'. as i remember the story the gas station in question was in alabama and not florida, either we had backtracked west or gone north but is was not the 'correct routing as discribed'. i was saving this until later, but i'm glad it's out and i can say "sorry about that"..........
