Sketching the Route

As I've said before, I don't actually remember planning the trip.

But here's how I think it might've gone. We had certain destinations to hit on a particular date — Carrizozo, San Francisco, and probably Tucson (I don't remember). And then there was the mooch list -- dunno why else we would've picked out CO Springs, for example. And then there were sights along the emerging route that we didn't want to miss -- Grand Canyon, Yellowstone, etc.

And then there was Portland. I'll be surprised if Henry doesn't remember why we wanted to drive into drippy Portland looking for someone from Tates Creek!

Oops! I just remembered another reason we went to Portland -- to say howdy to Rob Billups, whose aunt and uncle lived across the street on Hildeen.

But that doesn't get Henry off the hook. Portland. A downtown convention center of some kind. Happily greeting someone we might've passed in the mall with a nod — or maybe avoided all together.

Remember?

the actual route was a combination of needs (pick up hank, see my grandparents), wants (various national parks, certain cities, certain people)and mooch sites.

i thought tucson was a combo (mooch and certain people). colorado springs was all mooch (next leg on the blog)

i will be looking forward to Senor Selby's recollection of Portland.
