We swam in the Tapps' pool at night. . . despite the fact that the underwater light was leaking electricity! The fixture looked normal. And you couldn't feel the current when you came down the steps at the far end. But as you swam closer, into the deep end, you started to feel a mild, constant shock, that grew progressively stronger. I think about ten inches was as close as I was willing to get. It was quite pronounced at that distance. A very odd feeling. And I shudder to think what touching the metal frame holding the glass would have caused.
It still seems impossible. Sure hope y'all remember this. If not, I'll have to believe I dreamt it. A fever dream engendered by the sweltering heat in the airless back of the jeep, molded by the jouncing of the short wheelbase, braided in the high whine of the mudwings.
